CITIZENS' FEEDBACK

Peace Begins with Us: Our Hearts & Spirit, You & Me

Early April, 2012

When we ask common people around the world, “Do you really want a war to happen?”

“Do you wish to lose your parents, or children in a war?”

I believe we share common feeling, no one in this earth wants to be in pain, physically or mentally, or die for nothing. Let’s ask our grandparents, or our senior citizens, or our veterans who have been underwent World War II, or even though it was not a world war –any kind of “war”- they had been in traumatic experience, they wish it was never happened to them in their past life.

“It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” -Eleanor Roosevelt-

Peace building will not happen just by having discussions. We must make it happen. Take some actions to make peace prevails for good.

One day, sometime in March 2012, I found out from a very good friend, there will be a peace meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in early April 2012 to engage an action plan and carry them out to resolve the Western threats to Iran. Was it by a coincidence I came across about this peace meeting?

As a passionate peace-building concerned citizen, I felt at that time, it is a call for me to participate in this peace meeting in Kuala Lumpur. No matter what it takes, I ought to attend and give my best contribution. Alhamdulillah, going through certain obstacles, I managed to participate in this peace meeting representing Citizen Want Peace from Indonesia.

22 participants from various organizations and civil society communities from Malaysia, Indonesia, Canada and 1 participant from Malaysian parliament with 2 journalists from the Malaysian media attended this peace meeting.

The organizer, Citizens International or CI is based in Penang, Malaysia also as a host for this peace meeting in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was started with opening remarks by Cikgu Asmi from CI, followed with a brief explanation on background information on the conflict and sanctions legality and its impact by Mohideen Abdul Kader. He also elucidated why Iran becomes the target of particular Western countries. The participants were given some reading materials taken from the media for further information and better understanding on this issue. There were two participants from Iran, Hamid and Hossein shared the latest condition in Iran and how the Iranians deal this situation.

Afterwards, we were discussing about the statement “No to War and Sanctions on Iran” for the press release and the action plan, the details are attached in separate files. The main purpose of this peace meeting to discuss some actions we could possibly do to prevent the war and lift up the sanctions on Iran. We agreed on distributing the tasks stated in the action plan will be conducted by different organizations. It’s like the ants that each group of ants has their own unique task to accomplish.

Finally, the meeting was ended with a press conference led by CI.

“May Peace Be Upon You”

I would like to express my deep gratitude for Citizen International’s hospitality and kindness in taking care of my wellbeing during my stay in Kuala Lumpur. Also thank you to Heru Susetyo from PAHAM Keadilan (Indonesia) who has recommended and connected me to CI for this peace meeting.

Citizens do want peace but how can we get peace when our own governments are against us?  American drone planes drop bombs on our citizens in less populated areas killing many citizens.  Our governments are silent about this and let this mass murder continue nonstop.  There should be a law against  foreigners bribing governments to remain silent about mass murders.  Our governments become accomplices in this crime and citizens pay for them.

As the technologies of war are getting more and more sophisticated it is placing the earth at the rank of an andangered planet . Is there a way to insure that a power would be institute to protect the planet and all the inhabitants from the excess of militarisation and potentialy a take over of our societies democraties, ressources and even a threat to our survival rights ?

We should start a 24-hr Peace Vigil for all nations at risk of war.

This suggestion has become a project!
The people of Japan are being sacrificed by their own government and the governments of the world. A movement to provide sanctuaries for Japan's citizen needs to happen immediately. After Canada's terrible treatment of our citizens of Japanese heritage during WW2 the least we could do for that nation is to welcome a significant number of her citizen to our bountiful nation, by providing areas of settlement for them.  Operation Evacuate Japan.

Citizens want peace, but the almighty governments don't. This may sound way out there but lets think about it for a minute.

We all feel very strongly about peace but don not seem to be able to stop it. What if we all sent letters to every governments who want wsr, especially the U.S. to suggest to them, that since they are creating WAR, then it is time that the entire government officials go and fight there own wars. Keep the citizens out of it. I know it sounds ridiculous but, it is not working the way the government officials are doing it. WE DO NOT WANT YOUR WAR so fight it yourselves !!

Bravo, Spartacus. Way to go! Please let us know when there will be an event, even a very small event and we can get together to talk about our path forward, and our small victories.

Put the soldiers to work mending roads, building bridges (well maybe this is a medium term plan). I like your ideas for now.

Who wants peace?

It seems that most people don't want or don't even think about peace.  Here's how I came to this conclusion:

1. I have polled people online and the vast majority see more benefit in war than peace.
2. I have done some search engine optimization for this website www.citizenswantpeace…
